Pain Awareness Month is September and nearly 100 million Americans experience chronic pain, a largely misunderstood condition. It is defined as moderate to severe pain that persists for six months or longer than would be expected for recovery. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome – or CRPS – is a chronic pain condition following an injury or trauma. People living with CRPS—referred to as the “suicide disease”—often experience prolonged or excessive pain believed to be caused in part by damaged or malfunctioning nerves. For more information go to aboutyourpain.com
