Director of Hoffman Family Foundation and operator of Rays of Grace Academy in Jinja, Uganda along with her Ugandan son Robert Kiwanuka. Hoffman Family Foundation a 501(c)(3) was founded in 2014. Seeing a growing need for many vulnerable children Tami heard the call on her life to make a difference in this world one star-fish at a time and Hoffman Family Foundation was born. Over the past seven years, Hoffman Family Foundation has grown immensely thanks to our generous donations and now has been able to help hundreds of families, women, and children in Uganda. Our programs include Rays of Grace Primary School and Soccer Academy, 350 amazing women that now have businesses through our Women’s Empowerment Groups, and our loving community outreach.

We are blessed to have two amazing teams, one in Denver, Colorado and one on site in Kampala, Uganda. The impact we make today has a powerful rippling effect on every tomorrow. Never underestimate the valuable and important difference you make in EVERY life you touch. We invite you to be a part of our vision… Leaving a legacy of LOVE transforming lives and communities. Our last guests are Michael A. Ruchim MD, Gastroenterology Specialist – Northwestern Medicine Digestive Health Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Michael is a colorectal cancer expert, he discusses the importance of regular screening, what the signs and symptoms may be, and the strides made in treatments. March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month which is a time to remind Americans of the importance of screening and early detection as well as the strides being made in cancer research. The Northwestern Medicine Digestive Health Center has developed a leading, comprehensive colonoscopy Quality Improvement program focused on improving screening rates and ensuring that all patients who undergo screening colonoscopy get the highest quality care.  Implementation of this program has significantly reduced the incidence of colon cancer.

Dr. Ruchim is joined by his patient, former NHL All-Star Eddie Olczyk who will share his personal journey with listeners. Former Chicago Blackhawks player Eddie Olczyk more than 24 months since being declared cancer-free, Olczyk is the NHL’s 2019 Hockey Fights Cancer ambassador and released a book to tell his story. He beat cancer but wants to help others. Eddie was a center in the National Hockey league for 16 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, and Pittsburgh Penguins. He won the Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994. Olczyk was also the head coach of the Pittsburg Penguins from June 2003to December 2005. Today he serves as a Television color commentator for NHL on NBC and Chicago Blackhawk games on NBC Sports Chicago. For more information please visit www.nm.org/DHC
